LOD Legal was established following the issue of new rules last November by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), which allows individual solicitors to offer their services independently, rather than as part of a traditional law firm.
LOD Legal is advising in-house legal teams of fast-growing UK businesses, mainly in the technology, pharmaceutical, professional services and retail sectors, and will add employment law advice shortly. The new business augments LOD’s existing service lines and is supported by its technology, project management and service design specialists. LOD drew on the experience of LOD Legal in Australia which was set up in 2017.
LOD co-founder Simon Harper commented: “We’ve always looked to make the most of market developments to give in-house teams interesting new options. LOD Legal is about building the next piece in that jigsaw – a law firm for in-house lawyers, by in-house lawyers. This is about somewhere to do the everyday work that traditional law firms weren’t designed for.”
