Established in 1961, BCIS provides comprehensive data, indices and insight across the built environment, alongside expert consultancy and research services.

BCIS’s proprietary dataset provides unmatched coverage of mission-critical capital cost, operational cost, insurance, carbon and reinstatement data.  Its data is relied on by quantity surveyors, contractors, insurers, asset owners and public bodies across thousands of organisations to plan, value, insure and manage the built environment.

LDC invested in BCIS in 2022, supporting its transition to an independent business.  Since then, the company has been growing recurring revenues at over 25% per annum, driven by continued investment in its suite of data and insight products, technological innovation and growing demand for its services.

Bowmark has a long track record of investing in market-leading software and data businesses. Its partnership with BCIS will support further investment in the company’s data, technology and AI capabilities, enabling deeper insight and analysis for its customers, as well as expansion into adjacent markets.

Bowmark partner, Simon Kaufman, said: “BCIS occupies a unique position in the UK built environment, underpinned by its exceptional market reputation and proprietary benchmark dataset. Having followed the business for several years, we are delighted to be partnering with the management team to support the next phase of its growth.”

Richard Linstead, CEO of BCIS, said: "The business’ partnership with LDC has been transformational. They backed an ambitious vision under independent ownership, investing in people and infrastructure, enabling us to build out our sales and product capabilities, and crucially, supporting us to unlock new revenue streams from our dataset and deliver ever increasing value back to our customers. We're excited to begin the next chapter with Bowmark and continuing to deliver essential data and insights to our growing customer base.”

Dan Smith, partner and head of Yorkshire at LDC, added: "It has been a privilege to support BCIS in the last four years. Following the initial carve-out the business has significantly grown its senior team, broadened its product offering and delivered impressive growth to become the trusted standard in UK construction cost data. We wish Richard Linstead and his team all the best during their next phase of growth with Bowmark.”
