Why we invested

There is an increasing trend towards the outsourcing of information and communications technology services, with customers favouring providers that can provide comprehensive solutions. This was an opportunity to invest in a market leader in integrated IT provision and to support a compelling growth strategy.

Node4’s ambition was to accelerate its growth through the further development of its infrastructure and service offering, supplemented by strategic acquisitions to build out its product portfolio and geographical footprint.

The result

Over the period of Bowmark’s investment, revenue and EBITDA more than doubled, driven largely by Node4 winning new contracts from both new and existing customers across its four business lines of cloud, connectivity, data centre and collaboration services.

This was supported by investment in the company’s product portfolio, service offering and sales and account management functions, with employee numbers increasing by 80%.

With Bowmark’s guidance, the company also made three strategic acquisitions – Onomi, Secura and Starcom – which enhanced Node4’s technical capabilities and provided access to new vertical markets.

Node4 was acquired by Providence Equity Partners in 2021.
