Why we invested
With productions including Wife Swap, Dream Holiday Home, Faking It and Scrapheap Challenge, RDF had a proven track record of developing valuable content with international sales potential. This was at a time when changes to legislation were accelerating the transfer of programme-related rights’ value from broadcasters to production companies. Our investment was an opportunity to help a fast-growing company capitalise on the international sales potential of its domestic content.
During the four years of our ownership, RDF’s profits increased five-fold, largely through the commercial exploitation of UK programme formats in the US, which had been secured and developed with the help of our investment.
In 2005, the company completed an IPO on AIM.
